BUILDING UP MY FELLOW WOMAN

Meg Henderson Wade
By Meg Henderson Wade

I try to build up my fellow women in order to build up my own foundation.  I like to live the golden rule by showing other women kindness and compassion.  Showing kindness to others really is a way to make your own world a kinder place.

“Treat others as you would like to be treated” is my favorite golden rule mantra.  One of my favorite quotes is, “A strong woman is like a teabag.  You’ll never know how strong she is until she’s in hot water”.  Women are tested everyday by life’s challenges.   I seem to learn more from my failures than my successes.  I believe that by sharing my failures with others, they can learn that we all fall. What matters is how we get back up.

By sharing my vulnerability and how I rebounded from drug addiction to helping others share their ugly truth, I seem to feel more beautiful.  By sharing my story in my book, “Confessions of a Southern Baby Boomer–How I Survived Crack Cocaine Addiction, the Mafia & Other Totally True Tales”, I share a survival story.

I grew up a small town girl who yearned to live in a bigger world.  As I traveled from southwestern Virginia to California, Atlanta and to Japan, I learned that by being honest about who I was, I could help others become more authentic.

Life tried to break me and in order to build my life back, I have made a personal promise to tell my story and build up my fellow woman.  I speak about my bittersweet yet humorous story in my book. I tell my story on many stages, podcasts and tv shows.   If you want to know more about my story, check out www.MegHendersonWade.com.  I build up my fellow woman the way I wish I had been helped.  It’s that simple and that real.
