Dear Ms. Plaid:

I’ve decided to downsize my house and move into something smaller and want to hustle on selling to take advantage of my hot local market.  The idea of moving is overwhelming to me and I’m a bit concerned about managing all the “professionals” in the process.  Do you have any guidance on making this process a bit easier?

Dear Buying and Selling:

I wish the Property Brothers would help me too, Drew and Jonathan, come find me!

The idea of downsizing is a great idea if you no longer need the space because with space comes upkeep, utilities and taxes.  From a financial perspective, it’s a great idea, but it does take energy.  To figure out how to manage the professionals let’s define the role of each.

Ask Ms. Plaid: Selling My House

As you can see there are lots of professionals involved in the process.  They primary key is finding a real estate agent you trust and is easy to work with.  They have a set of professionals they recommend and trust based on prior transactions.  However, you own the process so be sure to ask questions and don’t be afraid to ask for more explanation.  Purchasing a home is one of the biggest financial decisions you can make so take your time and be confident.

Good luck!
