Really all we’ve got is right now in this moment that we are experiencing, feeling, and living. My mind is constantly thinking about things that have happened in the past or will happen in the future. And, you know what? It doesn’t matter at all.  All we have is right here, right now.

Thinking constantly about where we’ve been and where we’re going blinds us to what is happening right now in this moment. Yes, we can definitely learn from our mistakes and make better plans for the future. However, we won’t really live our best life if all we do is live in our minds, both past and future.

See the flowers, smell the flowers–don’t just look at them and think, “oh, they’re beautiful. Wonder how long they will last.” They are here in our sight and smell right now. Really look at the way they are blooming and unfolding right before your eyes. This is the only time they will look exactly as they look in this moment.  Spoiler alert??? This is all we’ve got– right here, right now.

Today’s busy cyber world takes us away from just relying on our five senses. We don’t even look up from our screens as someone asks us a question. Make eye contact and let the other person know you see them, really see them at this moment of time. This is the human connection we are all really craving in our life. We cheat ourselves when we are too preoccupied with our thoughts of what’s next.

Being mindful and grateful helps us to feel connected. And in today’s supposedly connected world, we are really more unconnected than ever.

So, take a deep breath and listen to your body. Feel the wind and hear the leaves rustling. And live in the moment, because, Spoiler Alert!!! This is all we’ve ever really had and your heart and spirit will thank you for your honesty.
