I don’t know about you, but it seems that half of the women I talk to have “low thyroids” or have been diagnosed with “Thyroid Cancer”.  What is causing this epidemic of weak thyroids and how does that relate to Breast Cancer?

First, let’s talk about what causes a weak and poor functioning thyroid. I am not an endocrinologist and for simplicity’s sake, I will simply focus on the thyroid rather than include all the other connections it has with other endocrine glands.

Thyroids are weaker because our diet is SO deficient in Iodine. It has been estimated that 90% of the world’s population is Iodine deficient. I know that every man and woman that I have tested in the last 2 years has been Iodine deficient.

What happens to your thyroid when you don’t have enough Iodine? It develops nodules and cysts. Iodine is necessary for healthy function of all glandular tissues like the breast, uterus, prostate, ovaries, and thyroid. All of these glandular tissues concentrate iodine in order to maintain healthy cell architecture.

If there is not enough Iodine, the cell matrix transforms into cyst like structures. The result is fibrocystic breasts, polycystic ovaries and uterine fibroids.

If the cysts continue and become nodular and develop hyperplasia (increased cell growth), this can lead to cancer.

Breast tissue has a “trapping” system for iodine, very similar to that of the thyroid gland, basically competing for iodine with the thyroid. Medicating women with drugs for a hypo thyroid is like adding gasoline to the fire, because it actually increases the risk of developing Breast Cancer. Studies have shown that the incidence of Breast Cancer is twice as high in women taking medication for their thyroid.

iodoralIodine is a requisite for normal breast tissue. When there is iodine deficiency, there are changes in the DNA/RNA ratios and estrogen receptor proteins, changes leading to Breast Cancer.

Iodine is also necessary for proper immune function, especially when your immune cells are engulfing and ingesting bacteria and other unhealthy cells.

Iodine is an anti-oxidant and anti-cancer agent that contributes to the integrity of the normal healthy breast tissue.

Iodine displaces mercury, aluminum, lead, and halides like Bromide and fluoride. Bromides are found in all electronic gadgets like I Pads and computers.

With all the radiation that we are exposed to since the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, Iodine helps protect the thyroid gland and other glandular tissues.

Endocrinologist, Dr. Guy Abraham, has studied the iodine thyroid connection for over 25 years, and he is convinced that everyone needs to be taking iodine until to replenish deficiencies.

So how do you know if you are deficient? A simple 24 hour urine test can determine how deficient you are. If you have any of the following symptoms, you may benefit from an iodine screening:

  • Fibrocystic breasts
  • Nodules on your thyroid
  • Hypo Thyroid
  • Polycystic ovaries
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Breast Cancer

The great news is that when these tissues are nourished with enough iodine, the cells can revert back to healthy normal cells.

I personally take 50 mg of Iodoral every day in order to insure that my thyroid and breasts have all the iodine they need to function normally.
